The Malt and Mardle
The first micropub to open in Norwich, The Malt and Mardle’s offering is simple: beer plus other locally sourced drinks in a cosy space that’s friendly and welcoming. Set up by three friends who met at the University of Leeds, Emily, Elliot and Johnny bonded over beer and home-brewing and after moving back to Norfolk, opened the micropub in July 2021. Situated at the top end of Magdalen Street, the trio transformed a former retail space into an atmospheric one-room pub. A custom-made, temperature-controlled cabinet holds all the casks, and the focus is on offering great-quality drinks, particularly championing local brewers and suppliers.
