Monica Wilkinson
Monica Wilkinson works from her studio in Norwich, designing and making unique textile pieces for the home. Her handmade tufted rugs are made from 100% wool – mostly deadstock – and she continues to research suppliers which care for the environment, animals and people. Pieces of art for your floor, the rugs’ high-contrast, mostly monochrome abstract designs instantly add impact to any room. Monica studied for a degree in Illustration and is drawn to rug tufting, where wool is punched into the fabric (using a machine). This process is comparable to drawing. It gives her the ability to be free with the lines made, mark making on fabric rather than paper.
