L’Hexagone Bistro Français

Immerse yourself in an authentic French dining experience in the heart of the Norwich Lanes at L'Hexagone Bistro Français. This charming eatery, nestled in Lower Goat Lane, is the creation of husband and wife team, Thomas Aubrit and Gemma Aubrit-Layfield.

After opening its doors in early 2020, L'Hexagone has already made its mark as a sanctuary for simple, heartwarming French food. Chef Thomas, who hails from a family of cooks and butchers, pours his heritage into every dish. His French mother and butcher uncle played a huge part in shaping his culinary journey, and this influence clearly shines through in the bistro's menu.

Renowned restaurant critic Jay Rayner paid a visit and sang the praises of this intimate bistro, saying, "There’s a lot to be said for being good over a narrow bandwidth; for doing a small number of things really well... It is the tiny French restaurant that really can. It is the sort of place we could all do with more of, when money is tight and we need to take our pleasures with care."

Featuring fresh, local produce and bursting with French flavours, L'Hexagone captures the essence of French home cooking. Open for lunch and dinner, be sure to step into this delightful corner of France in the heart of Norwich, and let your senses take a journey to the Hexagon-shaped country.
